Since its launch in 1968, Alumigrip has represented the highest quality in general aviation coatings, prolonging the service life of both private and business aircraft while also providing unrivalled aesthetic appearance. By combining durability and a seamless application process with a rich variety of colors and effects, Alumigrip has enabled countless aircraft to achieve unique and eye-catch liveries, helping many airlines to forge their own unique brand identities.
Over the subsequent years, Alumigrip has continued to develop new and innovative products. From the launch of the Alumigrip Basecoat / Clearcoat system to chrome-free solutions and color-matching technologies driven by the color expertise of AkzoNobel, Alumigrip has successfully built upon its heritage. The brand has since become a global presence with worldwide supply and technical support network, securing its position as a true market-leading brand.
In celebration of Alumigrip’s 50-year anniversary, AkzoNobel and Alumigrip have teamed up with the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), becoming partners for the EAA AirVenture show. Established in 1953, the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh is one of the largest gatherings of general aviation enthusiasts in the world, and this year AkzoNobel and Alumigrip will be contributing to two amazing projects: the Young Eagles and the restoration of the Berlin Express 410V.
Alumigrip will be responsible for many of the vibrant liveries on display at AirVenture 2018, but the Berlin Express 410V is guaranteed to stand out, as a historic B-25 Mitchell bomber owned by the EAA. The aircraft was used in the filming of the 1970 classic war film Catch 22, and AkzoNobel is excited to be working with the EAA to restore the B-25 to its status as a cinematic icon while gaining new protective benefits, through the use of Alumigrip products.
Meanwhile, the Young Eagles is a program dedicated to inspiring new generations of aviation enthusiasts. The Young Eagles’ Lockwood AirCam will be celebrating its 25th year with a brand new Alumigrip livery, making it hard to miss as it carries excited 8-17 year-olds on their first flights over the AirVenture Oshkosh fairgrounds.
AkzoNobel’s partnership with the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh was accomplished in coordination with four key suppliers: AeroCoat Source LLC, AeroColors, a Hisco subsidiary, Graco Supply, and Packing Systems Inc. Each of these well-established AkzoNobel distributors have provided significant support in developing Alumigrip into the trusted brand it is today and delivering the ultimate finish for these outstanding aircraft.
