AkzoNobel Aerospace Coatings has received an extension to its existing Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) approval at its Dongguan facility, expanding the scope to include the color blending of its Eclipse topcoat system for the Chinese aerospace market.
With immediate effect, the extended approval qualifies the Dongguan site to supply Eclipse colors to MRO partners, further enhancing speed, responsiveness and local color expertise for customers across the region. Eclipse is AkzoNobel Aerospace Coating’s high-performance, low-VOC aircraft topcoat system designed to deliver durable protection and consistent, high-quality finishes for exterior aircraft applications.
The Dongguan facility is now approved to blend Eclipse topcoat colors for the Chinese market.
The Dongguan site already held CAAC approval, alongside its AS9100 certification, and OEM approvals from Boeing, Airbus and COMAC. With the addition of CAAC approval for Eclipse color blending, the facility further strengthens its position as a critical aerospace supply base supporting AkzoNobel’s operations in China.
Commenting on the extended approval, Marius Vasiliu, Regional Sales Director, AkzoNobel Aerospace Coatings Asia Pacific, says it reflects AkzoNobel’s ability to expand certified capabilities in line with customer and market demand.
“Extending our CAAC approval to include Eclipse color blending is an important step for our customers in China. It allows us to respond even faster and deliver trusted, customized color solution locally, while maintaining the highest global quality standards.
“Dongguan is a cornerstone of our Asia Pacific growth strategy,” Marius explains, “by continuing to expand the scope of what this site is approved to do, we are strengthening our support for customers as they scale their own operations and respond to increasing demand.”
The Dongguan facility plays a key role in AkzoNobel Aerospace Coatings’ China footprint, providing local color blending, technical support and OEM-approved color matching to airlines, OEMs and MROs. The site is qualified by Airbus for Aerobase color blending, and by Boeing and COMAC for Aerodur™ 3001G, supporting flagship programs including custom livery development for Airbus at Tianjin, Boeing at Zhoushan, and the COMAC C919 program.
